HPD – Winter Touches Developmental Program

I am excited to announce a new chapter in the High Plains Drifters Developmental program.  We are going to provide a “Winter Touches” program that will promote quick technical touches indoors during the winter months.  In our area, we have always had to play catch-up to other areas that do not have to battle the elements, like we do during the winter months.  The program will include a minimum of eight training sessions with a licensed and credentialed HPD developmental coach at the newly renovated Maverick boys and girls club gym.  The program will also provide a t-shirt that will be used to train and to play in the indoor league.  The cost for the program will be $40 which will cover the gym rental and cost of the shirt with the motivated HPD staff volunteering their time to ensure the development of players, is the priority of those individuals that want to participate in a more advanced soccer environment.  This program will let players continue to get quality touches which will allow a steady progression of technical ability.

A player can attend the technical sessions without having to play in the indoor league or can play on another indoor team, if they so desire.  The schedule will be as follows:

Registration:

12/6/2011 at the Maverick Club gym (1923 S. Lincoln, Amarillo, Texas,  79106) from 7:00 to 7:45; if you can’t make it please call Bobby Carlton at (806) 681-9611 to make other arrangements.

First week Session:

First session will either be Monday December 12, 2011, Tuesday December 13, 2011 or Wednesday December 14, 2011. All gym times are 7 to 9 pm with sessions usually being an intense hour of skills and drills.

Remaining Schedule;

The program will recommence Monday January 2, 2011 and will be every week Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, through February, 2012.  The training must remain flexible to accommodate the indoor league schedule.

Other things to note

HPD Developmental teams will be formed in following divisions:

  • U8 girls/boys – league is Coed and is 8v8 but with enough interest teams will remain gender pure.
  • U9 girls/boys – are gender pure and play 7v7 in the u10 division.
  • U10 girls/boys – are gender pure and play 7v7 in the u10 division.

*Players do not have to be registered in ASA to participate in this program

**League Registration will be the responsibility of the player and is due before the start of the first game. The league starts January 3, 2011 and the games are not on a certain pattern of frequency but games will usually be at 530 pm, 615 pm or 7 pm for these ages.
