A Letter from the HPD Board of Directors

Dear Parents, Players, Coaches, and Referees,

As new developments are occurring almost by the hour, we want to remind everyone that our responsibility is for the health and safety of our players, coaches and referees. We are regularly monitoring advice from federal, state and local resources, in addition to the CDC and WHO. We are also monitoring the decisions of school districts.

There are only a few confirmed cases in Texas and NO CONFIRMED cases in Potter or Randall County and/or the surrounding communities.

Based on the facts and information we have currently, we still recommend everyone follows the protocols and best practices set forth by the CDC. Soccer activity may go on as scheduled, however do note that both the US Soccer Federation and US Youth Soccer have cancelled some events and meetings. Please be respectful of individual or individual organizational decisions regarding participation. Also, be mindful of your facility partners, especially Park and Recreation departments for the decisions they need to make regarding usage. We strongly recommend that you follow the advice and direction of our local health department and follow their guidance.

If games or practices are scheduled, realize that it is the parents of the youth player that must decide for each event if they will participate, and we should respect their decision.

In addition to the well-published medical advice, we support the recommendations made to reduce the spread of the virus in sports, such as:

  • Wash hands frequently,
  • Stay home if you are sick - the team will appreciate it,
  • Avoid handshakes and hugs - fist bumps are ok,
  • Avoid sharing water bottles.

Please see the following additional resources and communications which may provide further answers to your questions.

We ask that you bear with us during this time, as we are dealing with a very fluid situation that will likely evolve over the coming weeks.  Know that the safety and well-being of our soccer family is priority as we move forward.

Sincerely,

HPD Board of Directors
